Sport Groups

Sport groups are small groups working on gross motor skills that form the foundation for participation in a range of recreational activities and facilitate a child’s transition to participation in sport and recreation activities. Our Therapy Sport Group combines the benefits of physical activity with therapeutic support to help children and teens build essential motor, social, and emotional skills in a fun, team-based setting.

Who would benefit?

Our Therapy Sport Groups are ideal for children and teens who

  • Need support with coordination or motor skills
  • Feel overwhelmed by traditional team sports
  • Struggle with social interaction during play.
  • Use movement to manage emotions
  • Have developmental, sensory, or attention challenges
  • Need to build confidence in a group setting

Program goals include:

  • Improve coordination, balance, and body awareness
  • Strengthen teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Boost confidence and resilience through positive peer interaction
  • Support emotional regulation in dynamic, real-time situations

Structure:

  • Weekly 60-minute sessions for 6-8 weeks
  • Small group format (6-8 participants)
  • Led by licensed occupational and/or physical therapists,
  • Activities include structured sports and movement-based games
