Handwriting Groups are therapist-led programs designed to help children improve handwriting through targeted activities that develop fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, and writing mechanics.
Who would benefit?
Children (typically ages 5–10) with difficulties in handwriting due to difficulty with fine motor skills, dysgraphia, or sensory processing challenges.
Program goals include:
- Improved pencil grip, posture, and control
- Enhanced letter formation, spacing, and alignment
- Strengthening hand muscles and coordination
- Improve writing confidence and endurance
- Improved motor skill and legible writing
Structure:
- Weekly 60-minute sessions for 6-8 weeks
- Small group format (3–6 children)
- Activities include motor warm-ups, handwriting practice, sensory play, and fun writing tasks
- Uses evidence-based handwriting programs
- Includes strategies for home and school carryover
